The Best Part Of Waking Up...

...Is probably not going to be the part where I admit up front that the only hat you're going to see in today's post is that one right up there at the top.  But hopefully, once I explain what that is, you won't hate me too terribly much.

See, today is April  Fool's Day.  Or as I like to call it, That Day Where I Don't Even Trust My Grandmother. Basically, if you've got big news that you want to share with me, you're going to have to hold it in until April 2nd because there is no way I am going to believe a word you say.  And I don't think I'm the only one who goes deep into Skeptic Mode on days like today, either.  Try discovering that the piece of gum your best friend offered you is flavored by pepper instead of mint, and you'll learn real quick that nobody can be trusted on April Fool's day.

So basically, I'm not a fan of pranks.  Tricks, on the other hand, I can totally get behind.  Particularly if they are of the 'nobody gets embarrassed' variety, which is where today's blog post fits in.

Remember back when it seemed like every post was started off with an amigurumi?  It's been a while, hasn't it?  Well, today's their day in the limelight.  So let's get to it, shall we?

First up, we've got this octopus amigurumi, which is apparently poised to take over very small globes.  So unless you're into that sort of thing, you might want to keep your small globes and octopus amigurumi separate.

And if anyone will appreciate this next set of amigurumi, it'll be Stina from Card Tricks:

Because really, if anyone will appreciate amigurumi in the shape of Dr. Mario pills, it will be her.  Or anyone who really digs Dr. Mario.

Admit it; at least once in your life, you've thought about how nice it would be if we could only find a Starman boost to help get us through the day.  While this amigurumi probably won't make you temporarily invincible, it makes up for it by being fantastically cute.

No, I still have no idea what Angry Birds is all about. And yet, I keep finding things based off the game, like the above-shown amigurumi.  Either this is a sign that I should really get to checking it out, or it's just really stinkin' popular right now.

The only thing I have to say about these Totoro amigurumi is this:  I'm actually more surprised by the fact that these are the only Hayao Miyazaki-inspired amigurumi I found.  Seriously--have you people seen his movies? There's at least one character in each movie that deserves to be immortalized in yarn.

Admittedly, this last one is mostly just for me, but frankly, it's just too awesome not to share:

No, it's not a big gray ball.  IT'S THE EFFING MOON.  Y'know, that one that orbits the earth and stuff?  Yeah.  That one.  Except this one is knit and squishy and has been anthropomorphised by the addition of little black button eyes and SWEET PATRICK STEWART IT'S ADORABLE I WANT TO HUG IT.

...But seriously, Internets, embiggen the pic.  The level of detail on this thing is amazing, and it needs to be seen to be truly appreciated.  I can't even imagine how one would make knitting resemble craters.

And on that note, that's it for this week.  And remember; if falling for my breakfast-themed trick earlier in this blog is the worst thing that happens to you today, you're not doing too badly.

Also, amigurumi is cute.  Just thought I'd throw that out there.

See you Monday!

  1. <3 We were never big on the April Fools' Day activities ourselves. It's always just been Dad's birthday to us.

  2. I can understand that. If April 1st babies have it as rough as any kid born on any holiday, I'd probably quash any holiday-related pranking with the quickness, too.
