Game On

Out of curiosity, how many of the games can you identify in the
above print without clicking the link for the answers?  I got five.

You know what I haven't done lately, Internets?  Posted some good 'ol video game hats.  So seeing as this is Monday and all, let's start this week off on the right foot and indulge in some gloriously geeky gamer hats, shall we?

Say what you want, but to my mind, you can't properly start off a post about video game hats unless you start with a Super Mario Bros power-up mushroom.  Admittedly, that's probably because the very first video game I ever played was the original Super Mario Bros and therefore that logic is steeped in nostalgic old fartery, but whatever.   The game was rad, the hat is rad and so it's going first.

Confession Time:  I never really ever got into The Legend of Zelda series.  But even without a love for this game in particular, I'm freakin' impressed by this crocheted Link hat, complete with hair and pointy ears. It's like cruise control to Hero of Hyrule or something.

For all the Portal lovers out there, might I interest you in this Aperture Science Sentry Turret hat?  Granted, I'm pretty sure it doesn't come with a functioning laser or anything like that, but I'm sure you could remedy that on your own.  Just sayin'.

Quick question:  Did the term "creeper" come from the Minecraft character rendered in hat form above, or did it evolve independently?  Because I'm pretty sure real-life creepers don't ambush you and spontaneously combust, although I could be wrong about that.

And just because it's too flippin' impressive not to share, here's a Half-Life headcrab hat:

Because there's more than one way to make a zombie, and Half-Life went with crabs that attach to your head.  Which is pretty creative, I think, and the hat is definitely equally so.

See you Wednesday!
